A renovation brief that brought comfort improvements and future energy planning into the same conversation.
The brief
The owners wanted the house to feel more comfortable and to leave a clear path for rooftop solar. The work began with the existing roof, the places where heat was escaping and how the family used the rooms.
From there, the improvements were planned as a sequence: address the building fabric, make room for the electrical work, then consider the generation system in the context of the home's needs.
The approach
Work on the roof and envelope can affect later equipment choices. Keeping the sequence connected made it easier to understand what belonged in the first phase and what could follow later.
